It all started with my hobby of canal boat painting. My lovely narrowboat ‘Calamity Jane’ just needed constantly brightening up!

I love a vintage style and was amazed when my designs were taken on by linen ware, ceramic and stationary manufacturers, in what are now my ‘Floral Romance’ and ‘Calamity Jane’ ranges.

The designs reflect my love of the English waterways and the homeliness of my boat. I am a Yorkshire coal miner’s daughter and I live today with my family in my home town of York.

My work carries the colours of my youth, memories of my Grandma’s coal range and the warmth of her kitchen, where everything was prepared from scratch using produce from the garden.

The designs are a celebration of true living English industrial heritage and a reflection of the many things I love. I am lucky to spend time on the water, watching the painted boats go by, the colours of the seasons and the fantastic changing light…
